A New Addition!

With the sad passing of our singer/keyboardist James "Jimmy" Holden, the task at hand was to fill Jimmy's seat. We're excited to share that Tacoma's own Michael Jaap, one of most talented musicians in the Northwest, has joined forces with Red House. A fine singer & multi-keyboardist, Mike will contribute greatly to the band. He's played in numerous bands over the years including Alive 'n' Well, The Reputations, Lady A and his own bands: Michael Jaap Band & Dr. Jop's Funk Shop. Mike has also recently retired as a music educator, teaching at UPS School of Music & the Tacoma Public Schools. He's currently doing some some work on our upcoming CD & we're in rehearsals for future gigs, as rooms start booking bands again. It's a new chapter as we enter into our 11th year as Red House!

Red House bandmate James "Jimmy" Holden RIP

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our dear dear friend, Hammond B-3 Master & singer extraordinaire James "Jimmy" Holden. Jimmy succumbed to a Covid-19 infection complicated by a heart condition. Words cannot express our feelings in this moment. Red House has been in the midst of making a full length 11-song CD, which will feature Jimmy's contributions. Look for more info here as it becomes available.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers,
Tim Scott, Mark Noftsger, Robin Crane

Jimmy Holden For The Win!

From 2019:

We feel extremely honored that our band was nominated for the Washington Blues Society Best Blues Band of 2019—our members Jimmy Holden and Robin Crane nominated for Best Blues Piano/Keyboard and the Chris Leighton Best Blues Drummer award, respectively. The big news is that Jimmy Holden won! We were also honored to be invited to perform at the Awards Event in Everett, WA. What a great day, playing for our peers and then watching James "Jimmy" Holden receive his award. Thank you to everyone who nominated us and voted for Jimmy.

2019 WBS Awards

From 2019:

Most everyone likes to be acknowledged for their accomplishments. Musicians are no exception. Perhaps even more so, in that what we do is a Labor of Love--largely under-appreciated and certainly under-compensated. So an "atta boy" every now and then is especially nice.

Our band, Red House, is made up of four Seattle natives who have individually been playing music since the Sixties, professionally for almost fifty years each. As a group that’s been together since I moved back home to Seattle (almost 10 years ago), we make the best quality music we are able to and strive for excellence every time we take the stage because it's important to us and it’s the best kind of fun--that's why we're still doing it all these years later. I’ve never been comfortable “tooting my own horn” but in this case, because I’m so proud of who we are and what we do, I feel okay tooting “our’ horn.

Today, I was excited to learn that our band has been nominated for the Washington Blues Society Best Blues Band of 2019—Jimmy Holden and Robin Crane nominated for Best Blues Piano/Keyboard and the Chris Leighton Best Blues Drummer award, respectively. If you are a member of the Washington Blues Society and will be voting on the WBS Awards for this year (the deadline for ballots is April 9th, 2019), you might consider supporting us but whoever you choose, please keep supporting The Blues and Live Music. We need you.

Thank you,

In These Uncertain Times...

Hi Friends,
Just a quick note to assure folks that Red House hasn't collectively fallen off the face of the Earth. Like many other bands & artists, we have lost a substantial amount of work during this Covid-19 pandemic & it will likely be longer still before we're able to preform live with any semblance of frequency. This all went down in the midst of the band working on our 2nd CD, a collection of 11 songs--originals by us & our talented family of musical friends, plus a couple of interesting cover songs. We're also shooting & recording a live performance @ the Aurora Borealis nightclub this weekend that will stream on the web in about 2 weeks. Please stay tuned on this website & our Facebook page facebook.com/redhouseblues for more info on the date, time etc for this. It's our first endeavor with this type of media but should be fun or at least a good learning opportunity.
Thanks for all the love you've shown us. Please stay safe out there & we'll see you down the road.

The new EP has dropped!

Red House is pleased to announce completion of our first recording project, a 4-song EP titled "Over Yonder". This product is now available at our shows & will soon be available at our Store. Watch for info on how to get you some.

Jimmy Holden Update

As many of you may know, our man on keyboards, James Holden has been dealing with some serious medical issues. He needs a new kidney & in the midst of that, he was discovered to have an aortic aneurysm, requiring emergency surgery. This has put him in dire financial straits & his daughter Kaylea has created a GoFundMe page for donations. His heart surgery was successful, which we're grateful for--now he can get on the kidney transplant list. He still needs financial help though, so we have posted the link to his fund here. Even a small amount can help him immensely:
https://www.gofundme.com/paz6xew4
Please note, although the Fund shows that the original goal was met, most of those dollars went for emergency dental work which was necessary before his heart surgery due to the high risk of infection. The dental work is only half completed and needs to be taken care of, plus Jimmy was in the hospital for almost 2 months & the bills are piling up.
Thank you for your consideration.

Howdy

Hello Red House Fans & anyone who just happened by. Welcome to the new home/website for Red House, a Seattle-area band made up of old school bluesy, soulful funksters, keepin' it greasy for over 45 years. We have a new EP that will be available for purchase & download shortly. Please make yourselves at home.
